Skill Translation Matrix

Foundation

What can I actually sell, based on what I already did in uniform?

Before you build anything, you need to know what you are building and whether the market will pay for it. Module 1 walks you through translating your military experience into a sellable value proposition, validating your idea, and completing the foundational thinking every veteran entrepreneur must do before spending a dollar.

Business Foundation: Own the Objective

For your entire career, the objective was never yours to set. Someone above you decided what 'right' looked like. Your job was execution: take the mission, plan it, run it, report on it. That is a real skill, and it is why you are calm under pressure when most people are not. It is also not the skill this module is asking you to use.

Running a business starts one step earlier than execution. Nobody hands you the mission. You have to generate it yourself, then defend it, then be the only person accountable for whether it was the right call. Most transition programs never name this. The standard crosswalk hands you a job title, which still assumes someone else is defining the job, because a job title comes with a supervisor. It does not prepare you for the version where no one assigns you anything at all.

This product is the first rep of that habit: setting your own objective instead of receiving one.

For the SDVOSB-formatted version with evidence requirements, see the SDVOSB Capability Statement Toolkit in Module 2.
